Max

Maxwell has come a long way from his birth at 4 lbs. 12 oz. He goes to the doctor tomorrow for his 2 month check up. Here are things about Max. He is starting to have chubby little cheeks and a double chin. He loves to stretch himself out straight, which makes him seem even bigger :) He has the longest eyelashes, which tells me he is my baby even though he looks nothing like me. He likes to look at our faces and he is starting to smile back, which melts my heart. He likes to kick, sometimes so much that he scoots himself down in his bed. His hair is kind of wavy like his daddy but still very wispy. He hates the carseat, but falls asleep instantly while in it. The first few times I put him on his tummy for tummy time, he accidentally rolled over. He was in the right place at the right time I guess :) He is so sweet and I feel so grateful for him. I'm sad to go back to work and miss out being with him. He will be in good hands with his dad though :)

Gratitude

It turns out I am terrible at this blogging stuff. I've been thinking lately how amazingly blessed I have been/am. I have a wonderful husband who takes such good care of me. We celebrated our 2 year anniversary last weekend and it was so fun! He is my best friend and I can't wait spend forever with him. Maxwell is starting to be so much fun. Some days are rough but then he looks at me and smiles and it is all worth it. He is such an amazing blessing in our lives. It's so hard to believe he is here and healthy even though he had a rough start. He is starting to interact with us more and will look at me when I'm talking. It is so rewarding to see his smile and to be able to calm him down when he is sad. I'm still a little amazed that I am a mom and that George and I have a baby. I am so grateful for the fact that we will be together forever. It's going to be a fun adventure! Now for some pictures :)
George looks so good in this picture. He loves doing little projects to improve the house. He always gets his best ideas while sitting in the bathroom :)
My boys lookin' good. George wanted to be twins with Max today :)

Best Christmas Present

We were so lucky to have our baby with us at home on Christmas. He made it so much better because we were together as a little family. It's funny to think that I was supposed to be having a baby on Christmas Eve, but instead we had a month old baby :) He is such a good baby and really doesn't complain to much. When he does cry, it sounds like a little evil laugh. He definitely goes from 0 to 60 when he's hungry, but other than that he doesn't make too much of a fuss. We were able to go visit Nana and Granddad on Christmas Eve and have the traditional breakfast dinner and then on Christmas morning we headed up to Grandma and Grandpa Patterson's house. We were able to talk to Doug via skype, which was awesome! We had a great first Christmas as a little family.

home sweet home

Well, this post is a long time coming, but Max is finally home and we love it! He was in the NICU for 3 weeks. It was definitely a rough journey, but compared to some of the other parents and babies at the hospital, we were very blessed. December was the longest month of my life, but as I look back, it was also the best. George and I really had to rely on each other and our friends and family gave so much support. It seemed like he never would get it, but one day it just clicked. He was like a roller coaster with his eating but he got it and now he eats like a champ! Once he started getting it, I started going to the hospital more frequently to feed him, then I ended up staying overnight at the hospital. We actually didn't know how quickly he would be able to come home. All of the sudden we were being discharged! Greatest day ever! We brought him home a week before Christmas, which made everything so much better!
