He did it! George's graduation was a success!
George graduated with his BFA in graphic design. It was a huge accomplishment and I am so proud of him. It was a busy week, but we had so much fun! It started with a BFA show where George and his classmates displayed some of their work and their portfolios. Thursday was commencement at the UVU events center. It was a nice program and we were able to spot George because of his colorful leis (Thank you Maurine). The guest speaker was Erin Gruwell. She is a teacher who the movie Freedom Writers is based on. I wish I could say that I heard her speak, but Max wasn't such a good boy. We spend most of our time running in the hallways and in and out of the women's restroom. He was much better on Friday morning at convocation. It was so much fun to celebrate with George and family. George had an interview for a job on Friday afternoon and we found out the following Tuesday that he was hired! He is working as a graphic designer at a company called VitalSmarts. We are so excited to start this next phase of our lives. We are so thankful for all the help and support we have gotten over the past...30 years I guess! Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

I got colored rad
I ran my first 5k! My only goal was to run the whole time which turned out to be much easier when there are a ton of other people running with me. The race took place at UVU, which is basically built on a hill so I did walk just a little bit, what can you expect? It was a ton of fun though. I ended up finishing it in about 31 minutes, which was great considering my earphones stopped working around mile 1. Apparently they didn't like chalk being thrown at them. I think I was so distracted by the other stuff going on that I didn't notice my heavy breathing. There were color bombing stations every kilometer. I enjoy running and it was fun having something to work towards. We actually just bought a jogging stroller so now George and I are training together to run another 5k in July. We're excited!

The color explosion! I foolishly threw my chalk straight up, which means it landed straight down onto me. Glutton for punishment right there.

flowers and the great outdoors
Max LOVES going outside! Loves it! I don't mind taking him because it means I might get a little bit of color and not glow in the dark anymore. Lately he loves picking the flowers. I love hearing him point to the dandelions and saying "flou fou" like they are the most beautiful flowers he's ever seen! Today he brought me every one he picked. Lucky for him, there will be many more to replace the ones he's picked! I'm so glad he is big enough to enjoy being outside because it's the best!

I love it when he squats down like this. His bum is almost touching the ground and yet he can pop right back up!
what's max been up to?
Sorry for the blog overload, but I guess that's my blogging style....
Max is now 17 months and he's suddenly not a baby anymore, he's a little boy. He seems super tall lately and can get into anything he wants to. He loves doing puzzles, reading, getting into everything, making animal sounds, going outside and is talking up a storm! He is also doing well with his signs and I'm sure he knows more that me. He has 6 teeth, finally. Poor kid got all of his teeth in a very short period of time but he's putting them to good use. He is my little buddy and we have so much fun being together. I'm so lucky to have such an awesome little friend who is constantly making me smile and makes life so much better!

fun pictures taken by Stacia
Our neighbor, Stacia, is really good at photography and she always has her camera. Max had fun playing with her little girl in the front yard and I was lucky enough to get some really cute pictures of Max out of it. I wish I had camera skills...
big bad college grad
George is graduating from UVU with his BFA in Graphic Design this week. Yeah, he's kind of big deal. I'm sure I'll be posting more about it after it actually happens, but it's still exciting! We also celebrated his birthday this month so April is pretty awesome!

This is a picture from his birthday. For some reason, I didn't take any. His only real request for his birthday was to have a pie.
Yes, I did make this amazing looking pie. No, it wasn't from scratch (why does making pie dough intimidate me so much?)
