great friends

When George and I first got married I wasn't really sure if I was supposed to have friends anymore or if he was the only friend I needed. I soon found out that he doesn't love hearing EVERYTHING I have to say so I feel really lucky to have made some really good friends over the years. It seems like we fell out of touch for a while, but then started getting together every month and eating dinner at the hospital. At the hospital? Yeah, I know it's weird but it's surprisingly delicious and so cheap! It's been so fun to reconnect with each other. Sadly, all of them are moving this summer. It's a super bummer, but I'm really hoping we can keep in touch because they are awesome women and great examples.
This little beauty is from my baby shower these guys threw for me Nov. 2010
Our last dinner date with Lauren, she's moving to Fresno CA next week

Max loves swimming so we take any chance we get to splash in some water. Our neighbor filled up this little pool in the back yard. It had been sitting in the sun for a while but was still pretty cold. Emily and Addie weren't such huge fans of the water, but Max jumped right in.

Max made Emily cry because he splashed her...oops!

This toy stayed on his head forever! It was funny!
Thanks Stacia for letting us play in the pool. Hopefully the girls will want to play next time and Max will learn his lesson about splashing girls sitting on the side of the pool.  I look forward to lots of swimming this summer!

Max is all boy

Max is all boy! He loves playing outside, digging in dirt, eating wood chips, playing with dogs and making messes.

BUT, he also has a sweet side. He gives the best hugs and wet kisses. He "melts our hearts" with his hugs, especially daddy. My favorite thing lately is reading him the book Snuggle Puppy. He sneaks in little kisses every few pages. It is so sweet. Here's a little video. Sadly our battery died, so George couldn't get the whole thing.

Going up, up, up

Max is officially a climber! I decided it was official when I looked over and saw him standing on top of the table. He LOVES to climb up on the couch and look out the window. He still needs a little help climbing onto the couch. It's so cute when he comes over and says "up up". He climbs up onto the armchair and shakes it back and forth. Unfortunately, he doesn't always realize when he is close to the edge. Luckily we haven't had too many falls. It's fun to watch him get so excited about this new skill!

We did it!

George and I finished the Book of Mormon for the first time as a couple! At first it didn't seem that cool, then I realized what a great accomplishment it is. I love being able to discuss it with each other and get a different point of view. Now we are enjoying first Nephi all over again!

ZOO

With all of this beautiful weather we decided it was time to go to the zoo. Max has been really interested in animals lately and imitating all the sounds. He can make elephant, monkey, sheep, duck, cow and i'm sure there are others I can't think of. At first he didn't seem to interested, (it is an hour long drive to get there) but once he saw the elephants and could make the sound, he started to get more excited. We saw lots of monkeys and birds and many other animals. My personal favorite were the giraffes. They were so interactive and they got right in your face. It was so cool! The animals weren't being very good examples; the gorilla and the giraffe were both picking their noses and eating it! Gross! Max called everything a cat, dog or bird. The monkeys were cats and the giraffe was a dog. He was pretty confused when we told him the tiger was a cat and the ostrich was a bird. It was perfect weather and there weren't very many people there. There were a lot of closed areas, but the polar bear exhibit they are building looks awesome! We had fun playing at the discovery park, Max thought it was hilarious when I climbed in the turtle shell and laughed hysterically when I went down the elephant slide. Max had fun (George had the most fun) and it was a great family outing!

What's been happening since October?

I think my problem with blogging is that I think I need to catch up and that seems to crazy so here's a sum up of the last few months in pictures.  We celebrated Max's first birthday, had a wonderful Christmas, enjoyed lots of family time (which we didn't get to do last year), and celebrated our 3rd anniversary. It's been a great couple of months. Enjoy!
November festivities including Max's first birthday which was so much fun! We are so grateful to have such an amazing little boy!
In December, we enjoyed spending lots of time together as a family going to parties and looking at a lot of pretty lights. It was a great Christmas!
Cabin time! We were able to go up to the cabin this year and it didn't disappoint. We had a lot of fun with the whole family!
We spent a lot of time having fun with the cousins from Hawaii
January was a great month. Max started walking for real and has been unstoppable ever since. We also celebrated our 3rd anniversary which was lots of fun except for George being sick.
A day at the park in February seems unheard of but we did it. Max had a lot of fun figuring out how to walk on uneven surfaces and playing in all the wood chips. He even ate a few. He loved the slide and learned to love the swings too.
